Setting SMART Goals…and Achieving them.
In order to become a Functional Dad I need to do more than just get in shape. I have to build my knowledge so I can be the best dad that I can be. So between now and our daughter’s birthday I’ve got my work cut out for me.
We all set goals, but we don’t always achieve those goals. I’ve mentioned this before goals have to be SMART: Specific, Measurable, Action-oriented, Realistic and Time Bound. Specific and Measurable, so you know when you have accomplished them (helps with motivation), Action-oriented so that it is an action you can do yourself, and Realistic and Time Bound to help achievement (reaching an accomplishment that you are capable of by a deadline). Another aspect is that you can change them along the way.
Given all of that I have been thinking about what my goals should be. Some aspects of what my goals are are easily quantifiable others not so much. The first step is to maybe have some Big Rock categories:
- Strength
- Flexibility
- Endurance
Delivery day
- My wife
- Our daughter
- Me
Baby care
- Diapers
- Feeding
- Health care
Household prep
- Safety
- Furniture
- Toys
