“Therefore, with your minds ready for action, be serious and set your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. As obedient children, do not be conformed to the desires of your former ignorance. But as the One who called you is holy, you also are to be holy in all your conduct; for it is written, Be holy, because I am holy.”
1 Peter 1:13-16 HCSB
I read the words, “minds ready for action” and wonder all that Peter means by it. What action are we getting our minds ready for? I think it’s about being aware of and ready when temptation comes. We can’t just be lax, we must always be on our guard. Jesus also taught this in many a parable. Peter tells us that when it does come we shouldn’t be worried. We can be holy in our conduct because Jesus is holy. And as children of God we get that grace. Peter also I think is instructing that we should be holy in all of our conduct. That means we don’t get to take a day off. We should be ready at all times.
