One of the outcomes of staying in the Bible every day is that I start to see the relationships and synergy between the old testament and the new testament more clearly. For instance take the two following passages:
“But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or his stature, because I have rejected him. Man does not see what the Lord sees, for man sees what is visible, but the Lord sees the heart.””
1 Samuel 16:7
and
“‘You judge by human standards. I judge no one. And if I do judge, My judgment is true, because I am not alone, but I and the Father who sent Me judge together. ‘”
John 8:15-16
I find it amazing how the second verse amplifies and is explained by the second. Christ judges with the Father but not by human standards. He judges by a man’s heart. So I hope that my heart is one that can humbly stand up to scrutiny from the Lord. That is why it is important that my decisions and my behaviors are based on the fear and love of Christ.
