“Rejoice always! Pray constantly. Give thanks in everything, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. Don’t stifle the Spirit. Don’t despise prophecies, but test all things. Hold on to what is good.”
1 Thessalonians 5:16-21
Paul concludes his letter to Thessalonians including the scripture above. This is his parting shot of instruction. Rejoice, Pray, give thanks and allow the Spirit to guide you! Great advice and practices, but the intriguing lines to me are the ones that follow. Don’t despise prophecies, but test all things. I believe this is Paul cautioning against the false prophets that Jesus spoke about. Believe in the Word and what has been said about the future but don’t go blindly believing. It’s okay to question something, but if you allow the Spirit to guide you all will work out. The Spirit will tell you if it is true or not so that you can hold on to what is true.
Five days into May and here are the data.
You’ll notice I got a Siesta in today as well. Always nice! I wrote a song called Siesta a number of years ago and here it is. Fortuitously, it is about my daughter.
