While doing my balanced breathing this morning I got to a place where I asked, ” Speak to me, Lord.” and what popped into my head, His answer, was exactly what I had heard this earlier this morning on Daily Audio Bible. The scripture and ensuing discussion about Jesus’ conversation with Martha and her sister Mary.
“But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.” 41 But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.”
Brian talked about that moment and had actually said to substitute ‘Martha’ with your own name. I am anxious about a great many things. You are anxious about a great many things. And instead of that we need to be more like Mary and just listen and be in the presence of Jesus.
God in the moment was telling me to just not worry and focus on Christ’s presence. Powerful stuff. And this is just another example of why I need to be in God’s word every day, because it is one way in which the Lord speaks to me.
