Everyday at 2 pm a notification pops up on my phone.
God Check-in
If I am able I will do it right then. If I’ve already done it, I’ll mark it as complete. And if I can’t get to it, I’ll leave the notification up until I can.
Have you ever just checked-in with a friend or family member? It might sound like this, “Hey, how’s it going?” “How you doing?” “What’s going on?” “Anything I can do for ya?” or “Just wanted to check-in and let you know I’ve been thinking about you.” That’s the whole idea behind my check in. It’s not prayer, which I also try to do every day. It’s something different.
I try not to ask God for anything during the check-in. Usually I thank Him or run down my day so far. “Appreciate you steering that meeting the way you did.” “Thanks for a pretty day, Lord.” “Anything you want me to do?” I haven’t gotten an overt answer yet, but sometimes I will receive a moment of clarity on a question I have been mulling over.
It’s a habit I want to get into that eventually won’t require an alert. Some days I will clear the notice because I already checked-in one or more times. Sometimes I have to do my check-in on the way home. I’m never going to be perfect with it, but I always feel better after I do it. And that’s an answer I truly appreciate. God Bless!
