“More than anything you guard, protect your mind, for life flows from it.”
Proverbs 4:23 (CEB)
I have a hypothesis about my creativity. I noticed that I only have a certain amount of it each day. If I use it all up at work I don’t have any left over at night (like for writing this blog). If there is some left over I usually can drum up enough to provide at least a semi-interesting topic. Most of the time when a good idea comes to me I write it down in my journal, even if I don’t get to it until later. But how can I increase my creativity storage?
I believe the answer is rather obvious. Be in better spiritual, physical, and mental health. Get adequate sleep, exercise more, eat right, build in habits of restorative activities (e.g. mindful walks, balanced breathing or meditation), and listen to the Good Book everyday. Why? The verse I quoted today from Proverbs I heard this morning on my drive in. It stuck with me and provided the fuel for today’s entry.
Protect your mind for life flows from it. The best way to protect it. Stay in shape. 🙂
