“I lie down and sleep; I wake again because the Lord sustains me.” – Psalm 3:5 HCSB
We are supposed to sleep. That is the way God made us. For six to eight hours we are supposed to lie down and lose consciousness, transition through light and deep sleep and dream. As with everything there is balance and we shouldn’t be sleeping all day. Sleep should rejuvenate us so that we can work the next day, think better, and feel better. Our bodies and mind are repaired at night when we sleep.
I know I don’t sleep enough. I make up for it on weekends but I should get to bed sooner during the week. Something I think almost all adults tend to do. Getting to bed earlier not always the easiest thing to do. I know I want to wind down and spend a little time with my wife. Even if its only watching Netflix or a college basketball game.
I recently upgraded my Fitbit thanks to my wife and mother in law. It has better sleep tracking data. I like being able to see the stages and get an idea if I am healthily bouncing between stages appropriately.
“I will both lie down and sleep in peace, for You alone, Lord, make me live in safety.” – Psalm 4:8
