So yesterday after dinner I remembered that I forgot to do my workout for the day. Oops! I had gotten home later than usual and got wrapped up in all the things that need to happen at that hour. Prepping dinner, cleaning up after a toddler, getting dinner ready for and feeding the little girl, and of course getting things ready to do it all over again the next day. So I forgot. We all do. And that’s okay. I set a reoccurring reminder on my phone and didn’t forget tonight.
Forgive me.
“For if you forgive others their offenses, your heavenly Father will forgive you as well. But if you don’t forgive others, your Father will not forgive your offenses.“
Matthew 6:14-15 CSB
The above scripture was included in a recent reading from the Daily Audio Bible. After the readings for the day, Brian Hardin, elaborated on this verse in particular. I thought a lot about what he said and am not going to try to replicate it because it was so poignant and thought-provoking you should listen for yourself. If you are interested here is a link to the web browser version. Its free and from the January 7, 2018 reading.
I was reminded of a particular line in song that my wife and I like. “You cannot forget if you cannot forgive. And you cannot forgive if you cannot untie.” Its a song called ‘My Heart is and Arrow’ by the band los halos. Forgiving yourself and others is freeing and can bring peace.
