Just doesn’t have as ominous a feel as Friday the 13th, but when you are Whole30-ing it, it has a different kind of feel. It’s not quite day 15 where we can say, “hey we’re halfway!” But 13 is coming up on 2 weeks, which ain’t too shabby.
So my day 13 was okay. Not great but not bad. Mornings are easier, but I’m gonna be honest, my fitbit wakes me up at 5:30 am and I don’t think I’ve ever been a morning person. I try my darndest not to wake my wife who is going through the Whole30 program as well as taking care of our 6 month old daughter (who’s first tooth is imminent). The comatose state I am usually in is not nearly as bad as it has been in the past. I am becoming more alert faster. Breakfast is a great egg and potato casserole (I may never return to my Cheerios). Then getting ready and off to work.
Morning classes this week have gone much better than last week’s and today was no different. I’m an introvert by nature so it takes a lot of my energy to be pithy and informative. Problem is my movie quotes are too old for my students. But I digress. So my energy and attention and focus have been good in the mornings…
This afternoon I was feeling it and not in a good way. Not so great today until I decided to have my afternoon indulgence. Dah dah dah! An apple! And wow picked me right up.
No processed sugar needed, thank you very much. This is in fact getting easier. NO cravings for hitting the vending machines or grabbing an energy drink. Nope an apple was all it took.
My work doesn’t end when I get home. No, no its daddy duty time. A task that I am more than willing to undertake. I get to spell the wife so she can have some me time. But did I mention my daughter is teething. Honestly, I don’t know how my wife does it. She takes care of her, plans and cooks our delicious meals, and manages to blog about it. Tonight we had roasted mini potatoes and a baked lemon garlic chicken and salads. All very good. So that is my day. Not altogether too bad. God Bless!
