I have given up sugar for Lent so that means for the next 40 days. So that means no more sugar in my coffee, no more candy, no more cookies. And I have quite the sweet tooth. No more hot chocolate. No more cake or desserts with sugar. Pretty difficult to do. Not without help. Lent is about eliminating something bad in your life or something good that maybe holds too much power over you. Its about making a small sacrifice in acknowledgement of the biggest sacrifice of all.
So I replaced sugar with stevia in my coffee. I stopped having desserts. I even separated the M&M’s from trail mix I had at work. The first couple of days it was easy but after dinner when I usually had a few cookies or another sweet snack it has grown more difficult. Avoiding sugar alltogether is tough. It is in so many products that there is no way I will be able to avoid it totally but certainly by making the changes that I have will make a difference.
