Week 12 Day 4: It’s Up to You…

You will keep the mind that is dependent on You in perfect peace, for it is trusting in You.

Isaiah 26:3 HCSB
Leading with the verse today because I wanted to talk about little about it.  Oh there are so many different things you could talk about with this verse but I wanted to focus on keeping your mind at peace.  IMG_1589When you mind is at peace you make better decisions,  you don’t stress, you don’t freak out.  Too many times we allow our emotions to control us and not the other way around.  It’s up to you to put you mind at peace.
At the heart of my technique to keep my mind in perfect peace is my faith and tying that into when I meditate or practice mindfulness or practice on the emWave.  You should check out The Relaxation Response by Dr. Herbert Benson.  The emWave is looking at HRV or heart rate variability and the balance between the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems which I mentioned in an earlier post.  Maybe think of this as physiological peace.  However, there is more to it than this.  Our thoughts can drive that sympathetic train and get us out of balance.   So whatever technique you use it should address the physical and thoughts/emotions.  The core of my technique is a diaphragmatic breath that is rhythmic and equal in duration for both inhale and exhale and occupying my mind with a thought or image to keep me on an even keel.  Now the tough part is that my mind likes to wander and sometimes it is difficult to reign it back in.  But that is another post altogether.
Oh almost forgot to post the workout and water intake.  God Bless!
